• Your vehicle may show signs of
overheating if you turn your
engine off immediately after
towing at high altitudes on
steep up-hill grades.
If possible, park on a level sur-
face. Set the park brake firmly.
Shift the automatic transmis-
sion into P (Park) or the manual
transmission into neutral.
Allow the engine to idle for a
few minutes before turning the
engine off.
If you do get an overheat warn-
ing, see "Engine Overheating"
in Section 5 for instructions.
CAUTION
Do not exceed the maximum
allowable tongue weight for
your vehicle.
Trailer Recommendations:
• Do not exceed your vehicle's
Cargo Weight Rating. This fig-
ure is the maximum weight of
the load your vehicle can carry,
not including the weight of
passengers.
• Weigh your vehicle with the
trailer attached.
The gross axle weight ratings
and the gross vehicle weight
rating must not be exceeded.
• You will get the best perform-
ance if you spread the weight
of your load properly and if you
choose the correct hitch and
trailer brakes.
Section 3

Hitches

It's important to have the correct
hitch equipment. Sidewinds and
rough roads are a few reasons why
you'll need the right hitch.
The maximum permissible trailer
loads are vehicle and engine
dependent and must not be
exceeded.
Do not exceed any weight ratings.
See your dealer for advice and
information about towing a trailer
with your vehicle.
