3. Pull the belt across you. Do
not let it get twisted.
The lap/shoulder belt may lock
if you pull it out very quickly.
To unlock it, let the belt go
back slightly then pull it across
you more slowly.
4. Push the latch plate into the
buckle until it clicks. Make
sure the release button on the
buckle faces upward or
outward.
CAUTION
You could be seriously injured if
your belt is buckled in the
wrong place. Always buckle
your belt into the buckle near-
est you.
Be sure the belt goes under the
armrests (if fitted).
If the safety belt goes over an
armrest (if fitted), the lap
portion of the safety belt could
apply force to the abdomen in a
crash, not to the much stronger
pelvic bones.

5. Pull up on the latch plate to
make sure it is secure.
6. Adjust the shoulder belt away
from your face and neck.
Maladjustment of the safety
belt height could reduce the
effectiveness of the safety belt
in a crash.
