The transfer case control panel is
located on the instrument panel. It
allows you to choose among four
settings:
1. Four-Wheel High
This setting is for driving in
most street and highway
situations.
You can also use this setting for
light or variable off-road driv-
ing conditions.
. . . 200
2. N (Neutral)
Shift to this setting only when
4
your vehicle needs to be
towed.
See your dealer or a profes-
sional towing service if you
need to have your vehicle
towed.
CAUTION
With the transfer case in
neutral, the vehicle can roll
even if an automatic transmis-
sion is in P (Park) or a manual
transmission is in gear. You or
others could be injured. Be sure
to set the park brake before
shifting the transfer case to
neutral.
3. Four-Wheel High Lock
This setting provides extra
traction for most off-road driv-
ing conditions.
Use this setting when driving
on sand, mud, snow or level,
rocky trails.
4. Four-Wheel Low Lock
This setting delivers extra
torque to all four wheels.
Use this setting when driving
in extreme off-road conditions
such as when driving on deep
sand, mud or snow or when
climbing or descending steep
hills.
While in this mode, if the vehi-
cle is fitted with a locking rear
axle, you can also lock the rear
axle for additional traction in
extreme off-road situations.
See "Locking Rear Axle" later in
this section.
