Freightliner Sprinter recommends that you have
the starter battery replaced at a quali ed specialist
workshop, e.g. a Freightliner Sprinter service cen-
ter.
If you want to replace the battery yourself, observe
the following information:
Only replace a faulty battery with a battery
R
which ful lls the vehicle's speci c require-
ments.
Carry over detachable parts such as the vent
R
hose or terminal cover from the battery which
is to be replaced.
Make sure that the vent hose is always con-
R
nected to its original opening on the battery
side.
Install the existing or newly supplied stop
plugs.
Otherwise, gases or battery acid could escape.
Make sure that the detachable parts are con-
R
nected in the same way as before.
For safety reasons, Freightliner Sprinter recom-
mends that you only use batteries that have been
tested and approved for your vehicle by Freight-
liner Sprinter. These batteries provide increased
impact protection to prevent vehicle occupants
from su ering acid burns should the battery be
damaged in an accident.

The highly ammable gas mixture is created while
the battery is charging and when jump-starting.
