• FS-Series Utility - the software enables the user to manage network printers, to
identify their general features, to send text and command strings to the them, to
manage fonts, to rename network printers and set power on status pages. The
installer places the 320K utility on the desktop.
• TrueType Screen Fonts- this collection of ten (10) screen fonts matches the printer
fonts to provide true WYSIWYG. The installer places the 1.5 MB font collection in
the System/Fonts folder.
• Postscript printer description (PPD) file- This file contains the feature and option
information for each FS-Series printer model. It uses an industry standard PPD
format to report to the driver and the utility and provides support for paper handling
options, fonts, language support, paper size, and printer options. The installer places
the FS-Series PPD files into the System/Extensions/Printer Descriptions folder
where they reside with other manufacturer's PPDs. They occupy 1.2MB of disk
space on the Macintosh.
• Readme File- This file provides installation instructions, font information and last
minute change information. The installer places the file on the Apple desktop.

Renaming the Printer

FS-7000 or LS-7000 users, please see the important note at the end of this section
before proceeding.
By default, the printer adopts an AppleTalk name of KYO_###### where the six digit
number is the 2000E serial number. The following procedure may be used to give the
printer a more user friendly name.
1. Open the FS-Series Utility which was installed on your Macintosh desktop by the
FS-Series Installer.
2. Select the appropriate AppleTalk zone (if any) and the desired printer from the list
of PostScript Printers and click on General.
3. Click on Rename Printer.
4. Type the new name for the printer and click OK.
5. Close the FS-Series Utility.
