Windows encompasses a wide range of client versions; from Windows 3.1 to
Windows NT 4.0, and thus a wide range of printing capabilities. This chapter is
divided into sections for each version of Windows. Please refer to the appropriate
section for the Windows clients that will be configured for printing to the EcoLAN
2000E.

5.1 Windows Network Printing Capabilities Overview

The various versions of Windows in combination with the EcoLAN 2000E offer the
network printing capabilities described below. The Windows Network Printing
Capabilities Table shows which capabilities are supported by each version of
Windows.
• Novell NetWare Printing: access to NetWare print queues when a NetWare server is
present.
• Peer to Peer Printing: direct access to the 2000E over either IPX or TCP/IP without
requiring a server.
• LPR Printing: access to a Windows LPR spooler over TCP/IP.
• Windows Shared Access Printing: access to a shared network printer configured on
another Windows 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT machine.
