IP Peer to Peer Configuration Options
Launch the P2P-IP icon in the EcoLAN folder to display the configuration options.
Max Hops for Search
The hop count number determines how many networks the program will search to find
EcoLAN 2000E units. An entry of 0 on the screen searches only the network wire
directly connected to the workstation. An entry of 2 would search the wire directly
connected to the workstation, and all networks accessible through two routers. Entries
of 15 or higher will automatically search every connected network (this number is not
recommended due to the network traffic it would generate).
IP Port Base
The IP port base number listed is one less than the actual port number. Thus, for the
EcoLAN 2000E default port number of 9100, the IP base port number is 9099. This
setting should only be changed if the EcoLAN 2000E port number is changed.
Printer Names
By default the printers are displayed in the list of printer ports by their IP address. This
option allows the printers to be displayed by their six digit serial numbers instead of
by IP address.
Printers...
The Printers... button opens a dialog that allows defining a specific printer which
otherwise may not have been discovered, such as a printer which is farther away than
the Max Hops to Search for value. While the standard printers (displayed by IP
address) will appear or not appear in the list of ports depending upon whether they are
turned on and/or attached to the network, printers defined on this screen will be
displayed by name rather than by IP address and will always be displayed in the list of
ports. Thus, printers defined on this screen may be selected for printing, but may not
actually be available.

5.4.3 Windows 95/98 LPR Printing

LPR printing requires that the workstation have TCP/IP capability and the
corresponding LPR spooler. If the printer is not shared, then an LPR queue must be
created on each workstation from which printing is initiated.
Windows 95/98 includes TCP/IP. To print with this protocol, the Windows 95/98
workstation also requires an LPR utility. The following instructions are based on a
shareware LPR application that is available from various sources, including Kyocera
(www.kyocera.com/printers/techsupp.html). You will need the wlprs41.zip and
wlprspl.txt for the LPR spooler.
