If any of the above error messages is displayed,
retry the white balance adjustment. If the error
message occurs again, an internal check is
necessary.
For information about this internal check, refer to
the Maintenance Manual.
White balance memory
Values stored in memory are held until the white
balance is next adjusted.
There are two sets of white balance memories, A
and B, and adjustments for each of the CC filters
can be automatically stored in the memory
corresponding to the setting (A or B) of the
WHITE BAL switch. The camcorder has four
built-in CC filters, so a total of eight (4 × 2)
adjustments can be stored. The number of
memories allocated to each of A and B can be
limited to one by setting the FILTER WHT MEM
item to OFF on the WHITE SETTING page of the
OPERATION menu. In this case, the memory
contents are not linked to the CC filter settings.
If the WHITE BAL switch is set to B, and on the
WHITE SETTING page of the OPERATION
menu, the WHITE SWITCH <B> item is set to
ATW, the ATW function is activated to
automatically adjust the white balance of the
picture being shot for varying lighting conditions.

Notes
• Whatever the operating mode of the electronic shutter,
the sensitivity of the CCD decreases with increasing
shutter speed.
• When the automatic iris is used, the iris opens wider as
the shutter speed increases, thus reducing the depth of
field.
• Under artificial light, particularly fluorescent or
mercury lamps, the light intensity may appear to be
constant, but the red, green, and blue intensities are
