When the symptom has occurred, replace the retard joint attached to the pickup unit on the relevant cassette
with the new type retard joint (FC9-4290-010) following the procedure below.The sliding performance of the
new type retard joint is improved by the shape change[a] with a deeper horseshoe-shape. The photo[A]
shows the new type and the [B] shows the old type.
The description of this procedure is referring to the procedure for removing the cassette 3 pickup unit. In
case the symptom has occurred in another cassette, refer to the procedure in service manual for removing
the pickup unit for each cassette.
1) Pull out the cassette, unscrew the 2 screws, unhook the 1 claw and remove the right front cover of
the host machine [1] and the right front cover of the cassette feeding unit[2]
