FOCUS

Auto focus
With the
POWER
switch set to
mode selector to
"AUTO"
set. The camcorder will automatically focus on any
subject at a distance of 1. 1 m or more from the lens.
In the following recording conditions the focus may not
adjust properly. It is recommended to switch to manual
focus or change the preset mode selector setting to get a
focused picture. (See page 16.)
A:
When recording two subjects, one nearby and one
distant.
B:
When recording through a dirty or wet window.
C:
When recording a dark subject.
D:
When recording subjects without contrast (a white wall,
etc.).
E:
When recording a horizontally stripped subject.
F:
When recording very bright subjects.
When recording a fast moving subject.
When using a filter or conversion lens.

When zooming in to record a distant subject, at

close-range, the auto focus might not function
properly due to the instability of the picture. In
that case, use a tripod for stable focused
pictures.

Close-up recording
When recording a subject closer than 1. 1 m, change to
wide-angle (the subject is as small as possible in the
viewfinder). At full wide-angle, the focus is automatically
set at distances as close as 1 cm from the lens.

Manual focus

Press the
FOCUS AF/MF
"MF"
is displayed in the viewfinder.

Press
of the power zoom button to zoom in on the
"T"
subject.

Turn the manual focus dial to adjust the focus.
If you set the focus on a zoomed out picture, then the
picture will not be in focus when zooming in.

"W"
of the power zoom button to select the
desired recording field.
