VALVE AND VALVE SPRING REMOVAL

1. Remove:
• Valve cotter 1
• Valve spring retainer 2
• Valve spring 3
• Valve 4
Remove the parts using the valve
spring compressor 5.
NOTE:
SVU3170
Do not compress the spring more than neces-
sary.
Valve spring compressor:

1. Measure:
• Valve stem length a
• Valve face diameter b
Valve stem length:
Valve face diameter:
SVU3180
Out of specification → Replace.
2. Measure:
• Valve stem diameter a
Valve stem diameter:
Wear limit
SVU3190
Out of specification → Replace.
