Both settings can be made via the user menu using the keys  or . The values can only be inspected visually by the person
conducting the test.

Keyboard test

The keypad test requires the keys to be operated manually. The key function (key pressed or not) is displayed visually by using
the corresponding key symbol. If acoustic acknowledgment is activated for the key, then an acoustic signal is emitted addition-
ally when the key is pressed. With the help of the keypad test, blocked keys and those having electrical contact problems or
mechanical defects can be detected.

General hardware test

This test reports general hardware faults occurring in the device or detected in the past. By calling up the test, no new test is
initiated, since the relevant hardware functions are generally monitored cyclically in the tachograph EFAS. If a fault condition is
reported by this test then there is also a DTC error stored in the fault memory of the device.
The following table lists the DTC fault codes, which form a part of the general hardware test:
Table 13 — DTCs supported by the hardware and their meanings
DTC (hex)
Meaning
80 00 002007 Voltage of the motion sensor / speed sensor exceeds the upper limit value
80 00 002003 Voltage of the motion sensor / speed sensor is under the lower limit value
80 00 002004 Interruption of power supply to the motion sensor / speed sensor
80 00 000007 Voltage of the tachograph exceeds the upper limit value
80 00 000003 Voltage of the tachograph is below the lower limit value
80 00 000004 Interruption of power supply to the tachograph
80 00 002180 Malfunction of the pulse signal of the motion sensor / speed sensor
80 00 002380 Malfunction in data communication to the motion sensor / speed sensor
80 00 000800 Malfunction in the clock or invalid time/date
40 00 000A70 The CAN bus signals an internal malfunction (only affects the bus at the A plug connector)
40 00 000B78 The CAN bus is in the "Bus Off" state (only affects the bus at the A plug connector)
80 00 001177 The presence of the communication partner connected to the CAN bus is not detected (only affects the bus
at the A plug connector)
40 00 000700 Printer malfunction
40 00 000400 Malfunction of card reader # 1
40 00 000500 Malfunction of card reader # 2
40 00 000F00 Keypad malfunction
40 00 003000 Malfunction at the pulse output (B7)
Note
In this test, there is no additional display on the EFAS. The number of errors detected is reported to and dis-
played on the test device or EFAS Service Tool. The exact evaluation of the type of fault has to be completed by
reading out the DTC fault memory.
