Measures to be carried out in the event of the...
Manufacturer's documentation for thermally acti-
vated safety valve
Note
A contractor must check the thermally activated safety
valve regularly for tightness.
When the function responds:
The thermally activated safety valve responds if the
boiler water temperature exceeds approx. 100 °C.
Cold water flows through the safety heat exchanger.
The boiler is cooled and the heated water is routed to
the drain.
Measures for reducing tar deposits
Tar deposits in the hopper are caused by condensation
of wood gases on the water-cooled walls. Since the
condensation temperature of the gases is far higher
than the achievable boiler water temperature, tar
deposits are unavoidable. The deposits do not impair
the function of the boiler. Only remove the dry and flak-
ing deposits before heat-up. See page 50.
You can reduce tar deposits by taking the following
steps:
Only use dry fuel: A moisture content of approx.
15 % - 20 % is ideal. See page 54.
Heat with as high a boiler water temperature as pos-
sible.
(cont.)
Resetting the function:
Note
The function is reset automatically if the boiler water
temperature has dropped.

vated safety valve
Maintain a min. return temperature of 65 °C.
Recharge or heat up as necessary; see page 18.
Longer partial load operation increases tar deposits.
Note
These steps reduce tar deposits in the hopper, but
they do not prevent them.
