Switches
There are three sets of switches on the TA-1 amplifier; the speaker selector set, the mode set,
and the balanced input set.
Speaker selector switches
These switches are used to set the EQ for various speaker configurations. Refer to "Setting the
speaker configuration DIP switches" on the next page for the settings for each speaker configu-
ration.

Balanced input switch
The TA-1 amplifier has a set of switches located between the MUSIC and VIDEO analog inputs.
The left switch shorts the negative inputs of the MUSIC input together. The right switch shorts
the VIDEO negative inputs together. These switches can be changed, as necessary, when
balanced sources are used.
In the down position, they short L- to R- (default). In the up position, 2 separate negative inputs
are provided and should be connected to the negative outputs of the balanced source - assum-
ing you have a balanced source. Do not short the negative inputs together with a jumper wire if
you are using an unbalanced source. Instead, put the switch in the down/unbalanced position -
this will short the negative inputs together eliminating the need for the jumper wire.
Setting the speaker configuration DIP switches
When first connected to power, the TA-1 theater amplifier is in the "setup mode", as indicated by
the flashing SETUP LED. In this mode the system is operational, but the EQ for the speakers will
not necessarily be correct. To correct the EQ and exit this mode, you must set the DIP switches
on the amplifier to the proper EQ for the speaker configuration you have chosen.
To set the EQ
1. Set the SPEAKER SELECTOR DIP switches as shown below for the speaker configuration
installed. For example: if you are using all CS-2 speakers, select Configuration 3 by setting
the SPEAKER SELECTOR DIP switch 3 to the up position.
2. Cycle the AC power to the TA-1 amplifier.
