11. DSP Board Tests
Note: These tests will verify that the DSP
board is working properly.
Note: If you are performing these tests
using a Digital BUILT-INvisible
you will not be able to perform tests 11.24
(1:5 Toggle), 11.27 (DRC Toggle) or 11.30
(FEQ Toggle) as these functions are not
incorporated into the remote control. In order
to perform these tests you need to use either
a programmable remote such as the Philips
Pronto, or TAP commands to emulate the IR
commands as listed in the procedures.
Note: The TA-1 uses 1.5 dB gain steps
between 0 and 9 dB and 1 dB steps between
0 and -6 dB.
11.1 Setup the unit under test as listed in the
Test Setup Parameters. Connect the TA-1
amplifier to an IBM compatible PC using the
TAP cable described in the appendix. Set up
a hyperterminal session as listed in the
appendix.
11.2 Set the TA-1 amplifier bass and treble
controls to the center position using the TAP
commands IDA and IB2.
11.3 Enter the following TAP commands and
check the TA-1 amplifier for the correct
response from the TA-1 amplifier.
11.4 Apply a 100 mV, 1 kHz signal to the left
and right music audio inputs at J6.
11.5 Reference a dB meter to the left front
satellite speaker output at J12 pins 3 and 4.
11.6 On the IBM PC, issue one VOLUME
UP command (IC0). Confirm that the output
volume level has been raised 1 dB.
11.7 Issue one VOLUME DOWN command
(I40). Confirm that the output volume level
has decreased 1 dB.
