CONNECTING THE 6G306-06 TO THE NETWORK

The following sections describe how to make the fiber optic cable connections.
3.6.1

SC Fiber Connections to the Network

The GPIM-01, GPIM-08, and GPIM-09 each have an SC style connector for the network port that
is used to connect to the Gigabit Ethernet network. Enterasys Networks offers fiber optic cables
that use SC style connectors, which are keyed to ensure proper crossover of the transmit and
receive fibers.
NOTE: An odd number of crossovers (preferably one) must be maintained between like
devices so that the transmit port of one device is connected to the receive port of the
other device and vice versa.

Different size and wavelength fiber cable is used for different applications. The GPIM-08 and the
GPIM-09 typically have a blue connector to indicate the long wave length transceiver. The
GPIM-01 connector is typically black or beige, to indicate short wave length applications. Check
the fiber specifications in
network.
