BASIC STRUCTURE
Oil change in gear housing
You can change the oil when the motor has been removed from the gear
housing. Turn the machine vertically with the motor facing up when dis -
mantling.
Oil change
You must change the oil at 300 hour operational intervals. Drain and top up the
oil through the hole in the motor shaft. Volume around 0.5 litre. Oil quality:
Mobil Lube 1 SHC 75W-90, Shell Spirax ASX 75W-90 or equivalent quality.
When replacing the oil, the seals must be replaced as per the spares set
504 20 89-01.
Replacing seals
Set of seals 504 20 89-01
The set of seals consists of seal holder with double seals for the spindle shaft
and radial seal for the motor shaft.
Replace the seals when changing oil. If the machine has many working
hours, you should also replace the seals as a preventive measure. If there are
signs of leaks of oil or water, you must replace the seals. Check that there is
no water in the gear housing.
Note: You can replace the seal holder when the water bracket has been
removed.
Dismantling/assembly
1. Counter stay device facilitates
dismantling. Lubricate the seal
and fit with a suitable sleeve.
2. Lift up with screwdrivers.
Lubricate the O-rings and seals
when assembling.
Separation
Gear box cover/gear
housing
Remove the four screws.
Reassembly
Replace the O-ring around the
gear box cover.
Check that the upper screws to
the gear box cover have O rings.
Dismantling/assembly
1. The easiest way of removing the radial
seal for the motor shaft is by using a
counter stay device (see page 14).
Lubricate the radial seal using gear box
oil and fit the seal by pressing down with
a suitable tool socket.
2. Lift the seal holder to the spindle shaft
with a pair of screwdrivers.
Lubricate the O-rings and radial seals
when assembling.
Separation
Gear box cover/gear housing
Remove the four screws and lift out the
gear box cover from the gear housing.
Check when reassembling that the
upper screws have O rings.
Reassembly
Replace the O-ring around the gear box
cover with a new one with lubrication.
Check when reassembling that the upper
screws to the gear box cover have O rings.
