1 In Command WorkStation, open Paper Catalog in one of the following ways:
•
In Job Center, click the Paper Catalog icon in the menu bar.
•
In Job Center, select Server > Paper Catalog.
•
In Device Center, click Paper Catalog in the Resources tab.
2 Click Settings in the Paper Catalog menu bar and choose JDF based.
3 Click the Add New icon.
4 In the New window, specify name, size, and other media attributes in the Basic and Other Attributes tabs.
5 In the Settings tab, specify Feed direction by selecting either Long edge feed or Short edge feed.
6 Click OK.
Using Smart Media
If a user-defined media is loaded into a paper cassette on Canon imagePRESS C10000VP/C8000VP, and you change
the paper size in the cassette, the Smart Media feature in Paper Catalog may not work.
When adding new media, make sure that it is supported for the tray, otherwise the Smart Media feature will not
work.
Use the following procedure.
1 Make sure that neither the imagePRESS Server nor the printer are processing or printing files.
2 Click the Consumables tab for the imagePRESS Server in Command WorkStation.
3 Click the arrow to the right of a tray, or right-click on a tray listing and choose the media you want to associate
with the tray.
4 Go to the printer and set the paper that you associated with the tray.
5 After you set the correct paper at the printer, associate the paper with the tray at the printer control panel.
For instructions, see the user documentation for the printer.
Note:
•
When you associate the paper on the printer, choose the same media and size that you designated in Smart
Media.
•
The paper type and size must match that of the paper registered in Smart Media.
•
The paper name displayed on the printer control panel will be replaced with the paper name registered in
Smart Media.
The media that is designated as Smart Media will be associated with the paper tray.
