7. Tilt the starter slightly forward to make sure that the
starter is installed correctly on the cylinder cover and
on the muffler.
7.3.5 To replace the drive
1. Remove the starter assembly as given in
disassemble the starter on page 12 .
2. Use a piston stop to lock the axle.
3. Loosen the nut (A). Remove the drive and the
spacer in the drive disc.
4. Examine the drive. Clean the drive if it is dirty.
Replace the drive if it is damaged.
5. Assemble in the opposite sequence to how it was
disassembled.

7.4 Muffler

7.4.1 To remove and install the muffler
1. Remove the 3 screws and the muffler cover.

2. Remove the 2 screws, the muffler and the heat
shield.
Note: There is a second muffler cover on the 333R
Mark II model. These illustrations shows the 331R
model.
3. Install the muffler in the opposite sequence.
7.4.2 To clean and examine the muffler
WARNING: Risk of burn injury or fire. Mufflers
with catalytic converters become very hot during
operation.
WARNING: Risk of fire. The exhaust gases are
hot and can contain sparks.
1. Clean all parts.
2. Examine the muffler for wear and damage. Replace
the muffler if it is damaged.
3. Examine the remaining parts. Replace worn or
damaged parts with new ones.
