7. NB08PT-18 SPECIAL TOOL SETTINGS

7.1

CHOOSING CONTROL MODE (STROKE OR FORCE OR MULTI)

CAUTION: The following instruction must be read in conjunction with the NB08PT-18 instruction manual and the insert
rivet data sheets which can be found on the website: www.StanleyEngineeredFastening.com
CAUTION: It is the responsibility of the customer that trials must be undertaken in sample pieces to determine
whether the 'pull to stroke' or 'pull to force' setting is required.
CAUTION: After initial placing, the insert nut must not be pulled to stroke or pull to force on second trigger pull.
Operator can choose a "Stroke" or "Force" or "Multi" control mode according to the application.
I.
Stroke control
Tool is controlled by detecting the stroke set. This is recommended in normal operation.
II.
Force control
Tool is controlled by detecting the force set. This is recommended in case of setting the one nut into some materials
with the diff erent thicknesses or the thickness of the material to be set is not stable.
*This mode can only be used with the following nuts.
 Aluminum nut: M6 MIN
 Steel nut: M5 MIN
 Stainless steel nut: M5 MIN
WARNING: If you use the force control mode other than the nuts above, it may cause a breakage to the nut thread.
III. Multi control
Tool is controlled by detecting either stroke or force which is detected fi rst. This function is eff ective when you want to
prevent the mandrel or thread breakage when you pulled trigger twice or when you set an incorrect large stroke value.
