Pin 1 of the socket is on a corner next to a "1" on the motherboard. Check for bent pins on the chip. Gently straighten any
bent pins with a pair of pliers. Install the component in the socket. Align the pins and press the chip firmly in the
socket, making sure that pin 1 of the chip is aligned with pin 1 of the socket. When an 80487SX or P23T is properly
installed, a row of empty socket pins should show on all four sides of the installed chip (this will not happen with a
P24T — a P24T is a 240-pin chip that uses all socket pins). See the graphic on the right below.
