EXCALIBUR ICON SETUP

ICON SETUP

Camera Class

Several different camera icons can be used to control cameras
at the surveillance site. These icons include: fixed camera,
pan/tilt, dome, and preset (bullseye). The icon control actions
are provided by appropriate camera pan/tilt and lens controls.
The Camera Icon Setup dialog box has several sections. Type
a camera icon Description in the text entry box at the top. This
description is displayed in the icon dialog box when the icon is
activated in Excalibur. Next, enter the number of the Switcher
that the camera is connected to. The number entered must be
for a valid switcher that is connected and properly set up.
The lower sections provides two mutually exclusive types of
camera actions: Call Camera to Monitor or Call Salvo.
Call Camera to Monitor
If the "Call Camera to Monitor" check box is selected, enter a
Camera number, a Monitor number to call the camera to, and
an optional Preset number (0 if none).
Optional check boxes are provided for selecting pan/tilt/lens
and auxiliary functions for the camera. If any of these are
selected, applicable operator controls are displayed when this
icon is activated in Excalibur. The camera Receiver auxiliary
relays may be momentary or latching, as desired. The operator
controls in the camera icon dialog box allow either mode.
Depending on the installation, AD1680 Series Receivers can
provide four auxiliary relays that can be controlled by this
icon. The Aux1/Aux2 and Auto/Random Pan choices are
mutually exclusive since AD1680 Receivers use Aux1 and
Aux2 for auto and random pan functions.
Two of the four auxiliary buttons may be labeled to identify
the auxiliary function. Type the desired auxiliary description
(a maximum of 8 characters) in the appropriate text entry
boxes.
No operator control levels are provided for auxiliary functions
of camera icons. To use auxiliary functions for controlling a
door to limit access, do not put the auxiliary controls with the
camera icon. Instead, place a door icon on the map, assign the
auxiliary functions to the door icon, and set a control level for
that icon. It is recommended that camera class icon auxiliary
controls be used for functions such as wipers or heater/blowers
only, rather than controlling doors, gates, lights, etc.
The setup dialog box also allow the definition of a variable
speed pan/tilt. This is used if a variable speed pan/tilt drive
and variable speed compatible Receiver are installed. If
variable speed control is desired, select the variable speed
check box and enter the default starting speed. This feature
can also be used to set the speed of high speed domes, even
when not using a mouse or desiring variable speed control.
Call Salvo
If the "Call Salvo" check box is selected, enter the desired
Salvo number to call, and the Start Monitor number to call the
salvo to. The optional pan/tilt/lens/aux check boxes are not
available for a salvo call.
A second (local) switcher call may be defined for this icon.
This is useful for operating in a "Satellite" mode, as described
on page 5-2. Select the "2nd Switcher" button, then enter the
second switcher number and the camera and monitor numbers
in the appropriate entry boxes of the Second (LOCAL)
Switcher Setup box, illustrated on page 5-5. Select "OK" in
the second switcher setup box to save the setup data and return
to the Camera Icon Setup dialog box. Select "Cancel" to exit
without saving the second switcher setup information.
After all data is entered as desired, select "OK" to save the
icon setup data and close the dialog box. Select "Cancel" to
exit without saving the icon setup information. See page 5-2
for restrictions on using "Delete".
