EXCALIBUR SYSTEM SETUP
Sound Files Menu
The Excalibur program can use a Windows-compatible sound
card to annunciate alarms and operator actions. The alarm
sound is played when an alarm is activated. Button sounds are
played when the operator presses an icon or button.
The "Sound Files" pull-down menu of the Excalibur System
Setup menu bar provides two selections: Alarm Sound and
Button Sound. These allow the user to select separate default
sounds for alarms and button actions.
Alarm Sound
This function selects the default alarm sound. This default
alarm sound is played if no alarm sound file is defined for an
alarm or door icon. The Icon Setup program allows the user to
select an alarm sound for each alarm or door class (alarm)
icon. See the Icon Setup program, page 5-3, for more
information on selecting alarm sounds.
Button Sound
This function selects the default sound for all operator button
or icon select actions.
When either of these entries is selected from the Sound Files
pull-down menu, a Select Alarm (or Button) Sound File dialog
box is displayed, as illustrated below. The dialog box allows
selection of a directory and a sound file (.WAV file). Note that
the default sound files may be in any accessible directory.
To choose a default sound, first select the desired directory
from the right-hand list box. The directory selected is shown
in the "Dir:" field above, and the sound files available in that
directory are displayed in the left-hand list box.
Next, select the sound (.WAV) file from the left-hand list box.
When the desired sound file is selected, the file name is
displayed in the "File:" field above the list box. Select "OK"
to save the data and close the dialog box.
Select "Cancel" to exit from the dialog box without saving the
selected information.
Note: If no sound card is installed in the PC, the speaker will
beep for button presses and alarm activations. IF NO
SOUND CARD IS INSTALLED, DO NOT SELECT ANY
SOUND FILES OR THE SPEAKER WILL NOT BEEP.
