8. Disassembly/assembly instructions

A. Disassembly/assembly of lenses/exhalation valve/speech
diaphragm and eye glass frames
3M 7927 Facepiece lens (Fig. 4).
• Remove the two screws holding
the lens frame together and
remove the two halves of the lens
frame.
• Roll back facepiece from the edge
of the lens and remove the lens.
To replace, align the centre of the
lens with the centre line of the
facepiece.
• The centre of the lens is marked by
two small dots, one at the top
centre and a second at the bottom centre.
• Place the lens into the facepiece, then re-attach the lens frame.
Replace the two screws and tighten.

• Remove the exhalation valve cover by lifting at the two prongs
on either side of the centre opening and sliding down.
• Remove exhalation valve by pulling on the edges of the valve.

3M 7895 Speech diaphragm (Fig. 7).
• Remove the nose cup by pulling out
X (2) of the groove around the speech
diaphragm.
Using the 7897 diaphragm tool,
turn the diaphragm retaining key

ring counter-clockwise and remove.

Push the diaphragm out of the
facepiece from underneath using the
eraser end of a pencil or similar
object.
• To replace the diaphragm, follow
the above steps in reverse.
Eye glass frame (Fig. 8-9).

Insert two prongs of the eye glass frame into the holes of
the frame holder. Insert the frame holder into the facepiece as
shown.
B. Assembly of other components
3M 7910 Bayonet Connector Kit (Fig. 10).
• Hold the inside part of the
connector secure, grasp the
outside of the connector and twist
counter-clockwise to
remove(using the 7920 bayonet
removal tool).
• To replace the connector, press
the inner section into the face-
piece until the end of the threads
are flush with the facepiece
exterior, then screw on the outer
piece by turning clockwise.
3M 7282 Inhalation valves (2x 7282)
• Grasp the edges of the valves and pull away from the plastic
post. Replace if the valve is distorted, cut, split or cannot be
reassembled onto the valve seat. If the valve seat is damaged,
replace the entire connector kit 7921/7910.
