18. Leak testing / Commissioning

Carry out the test when there is strong solar irradiation only with the collectors
covered up. Otherwise there is a risk of scalding.
For a leak test with ANRO, a 6 bar safety valve and a pressure gauge must be
fitted into the solar lines.
Test at 5-6 bar for at least 45 minutes.
When testing with water, minute leaks may remain undetected due to the higher
surface tension. This is not permissible.
Testing with air is also not permissible. Life-threatening situations could arise
if components fail under high air pressure.
After the leak test and for commissioning, the system pressure is reduced to
3.0 bar.
Where there is lightning protection to EN 50164-1 and VDE 0185; 1-4 provided,
the collector system must be professionally integrated into that system.
Where there is no lightning system, connect the solar flow and return to the
earthing system, generally in the basement. Observe all local regulations. The
electrical and lightning protection work must only be carried out by authorised
contractors.
Carry out commissioning in accordance with the checklist.
Preconditions:
- Leak test has been carried out.
- The system has been filled with ANRO. In the cold state, the system pressure
is approx. 3 bar. This applies to heights up to 17 m from the collector to the
lowest point of the system.
- The entire system circuit has been vented; open all shut-off valves and gravity
brakes to ensure complete venting.
- Start the circulation pump(s) in manual mode; where required repeat this
process. After venting close the gravity brakes.
- The control unit is ready to operate.
NB: Observe the individual instructions of, for example, heat exchanger, pump
and control unit separately.
At the end of their useful life these collectors can be returned to Wolf GmbH.
These collectors must be clearly identified (e.g. as "scrap") and be delivered
expenses paid during business hours.
All collector materials are either correctly recycled or disposed of by Wolf
GmbH.
For optimum environmental responsibility, return the polystyrene packaging to
the resources cycle via authorised collection points [where appropriate].
If required, recycle the heat transfer medium via authorised depositories.
