5.3 Nameplates for hazardous area installations

Note
• Use shielded, twisted pair cable (wire gauge AWG 14 to 22).
• Separate cables and conduits may be required to conform to standard instrumentation
wiring practices or electrical codes.
• The non-metallic enclosure does not provide a continuous ground path between conduit
connections: use grounding type bushings and jumpers.
• For detailed information on Intrinsic Safety setups, see Wiring details (Page 98).
1. If you want to rotate the enclosure, use a 2 mm Allen key to loosen the 3 Allen set screws
securing the locking collar. Position the unit and retighten the screws.
2. Strip the cable jacket for approximately 70 mm from the end of the cable, and thread the
wires through the strain relief. If cable is routed through conduit, use only approved
suitable-size hubs for waterproof applications.
3. Connect the wires to the terminals: the polarity is identified on the terminal block.
4. Tighten the strain relief to form a good seal.
5. Close the lid and tighten screws. Do not overtighten screws. (Recommended torque is 1.1
to 1.7 N-m (10 to 15 in-lb) of torque.)
