The particle filter has become clogged with soot.
Adapt your driving style so that the filter cleans itself automatically.
e Select SPORT driving programme.
e Switch off cruise control and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
e Change alternately between accelerating to the maximum permissible
speed (preferably extra-urban) and releasing the accelerator pedal, re-
moving the foot completely from the pedal.
Always observe the relevant speed limits.
e Repeat the procedure until the message extinguishes.
