ADVICE ON ANTIPOLLUTION, FUEL ECONOMY AND DRIVING
General hints
• Electricity is "fuel"; switch off
any electrical consumers you do
not really need.
However, (with safety always in
mind), keep your lights on when
the visibility is bad ("see and be
seen").
• Try to use the air vents. Driving
with the windows open at 60 mph
(100 km/h) will increase fuel
consumption by +4%
2.16
• Vehicles with air conditioning
will consume as much as one
additional gallon every 140 miles
(2 litres per 100 km): switch the
air conditioning off if it is not
needed.
• Avoid filling to the brim with fuel
at the filling station to prevent
any overflow.
• Do not leave an empty roof rack
fitted to the vehicle.
• It is better to fit a trailer for bulky
objects.
• When towing a caravan, fit a wind
deflector and adjust it carefully.
• Avoid using the vehicle for
door-to-door calls (short journeys
with long waits in between)
because the engine never reaches
its normal operating temperature.
Try to group your journeys.

Tyres
• Pressures which are too low may
increase fuel consumption.
• The use of non-recommended
tyres may also increase fuel
consumption.
