Chapter 3: Using the Avaya Endpoint
This chapter provides information about launching and using the Avaya Endpoint Access Control (EAC)
Agent.

Launching Avaya EAC Agent

The Avaya EAC Agent installs Avaya EAC Agent Service and EAC Agent Tray Monitor. These
components are automatically configured to run at windows startup. Avaya EAC Agent Tray
Monitor reports the health status of the computer to the user.

SRS Rule Check

Avaya EAC Agent waits for a user to connect to a VPN gateway. Before connecting, the Avaya
EAC Agent state is set to Inactive and the tray icon is gray.
When a connection is established the VPN gateway pushes the policy rules towards the Avaya
EAC Agent. Avaya EAC Core verifies the rule and returns the health status to the VPN gateway
which determines the fail action if necessary. If the SRS rule check succeeded (required
components were present on the client machine), the user is permitted access to intranet
resources as specified in the user group's access rules. If the check failed, the behavior is
configurable: either the session/tunnel can be torn down or the user may be granted restricted
access.
Note:
The VPN gateway can completely disable the Avaya EAC Agent, allowing access to the
VPN connection regardless of the users computer health status.
The VPN gateway can enable or disable the EAC Agent check for unsupported operation
systems. If set to YES, the user is allowed access to the portal even in an unsupported
