The following table lists procedures you must use to install the Ethernet
Routing Switch 8600 chassis and the estimated time you need to complete
each procedure. Not all procedures are required for every Ethernet
Routing Switch 8600 system.

Mounting the chassis in an equipment rack
Installing the cable management brackets
Positioning the chassis on a flat surface
As long as you provide adequate space around the unit for access to cable

Action
Place the switch on the flat surface and check for proper
ventilation.
Allow at least 2 in. (5.1 cm) on each side for proper ventilation
and 5 in. (12.7 cm) at the front for power cord clearance.
Attach rubber feet to each marked location on the bottom of the
chassis.
The rubber feet are optional but Nortel recommends that you use
them to help keep the unit from moving.
