General safety
precautions
Always check your local codes in ensuring that your
installation is safe and legal.
When using your stove always follow these safety
precautions:
- Never overfire the stove. This may cause serious damage
to the stove and the chimney.
- Never use gasoline or similar liquids to start a fire in
this heater.
- Avoid creating a "low pressure" condition in the room
where the stove is operating, because this could cause
poisonous gases to be drawn into the room.
- Never extinguish the flames or ashes with water during
use as this may damage your stove and possibly cause
injury to yourself.
- Ensure that when the fire is used with the door open, a
fire screen is placed in front of the fire. Also make sure
that furniture and other flammable materials do not
get too close to the stove.
- Ash should be placed outdoors or be emptied in a place
where it will not represent a potential hazard.
- Be careful in using your stove because it is very hot.

Installation of Jøtul F 3
Check the stove to ensure that it is free of any damage in
transit before commencing with the installation.
The product is heavy. You will need help during assembly
and when the product is being placed into position.

Assembling the stove

1. After unpacking the stove - take out the items which
are packed inside it (fig. 2). These items are ash lip and
a door handle knob, along with a plastic bag of screws
for component assembly.
2. Unhook the door. Do not loosen the washer which is
under the lower hinge pin.
3. Remove the top-plate of the stove. This is connected to
the side plates with two collar head screws. In this way
it is easier to move the stove (fig. 3).
4. Install the ash lip by hooking it onto the front, just
below the door.
5. Screw the door handle knob to the front door handle.

Choose a Flue Exit Position

The Jøtul F 3 is equipped with a double rear heat shield as
standard, and has a cast knockout on the rear and sides,
which has to be removed in order to install the flue pipe.
Notice: The Jøtul F 3 Ivory may only be vented from the rear
- the cast knockout has already been removed.
If the stove is to be installed in a rear-exiting configuration,
remove the cover plates (fig. 4 A) on the heat shield using a
cutting pliers. Touch up any remaining sharp edges with a
file. Then, use a heavy mallet and strike hard in the middle
of the knockout.
If side vented; the knockout can be removed from the
inside (fig. 5).
If top vented; when assembling the top, the top plate is
unscrewed. Remove the screw which fastens the cross bar
(see fig. 6).
Caution! Remove the door prior to striking the knockout,
to avoid breaking the glass.

Assembling of the flue

Initially, assemble and provisionally position the stove
without making any holes in the pipe. The stove may be
assembled with an Ø150 mm flue.
