Complete the following steps in the prescribed order to install and replace a
microprocessor.
Attention:
cause damage to the microprocessor pins and cause the microprocessor to fail.

Important: To ensure proper server operation after you install replacement or
additional microprocessors, install only microprocessors that have the same
cache size and type, and the same clock speed. For a list of microprocessors
supported by your server, go to the ServerProven list at
http://www.ibm.com/pc/us/compat/.
Failure to complete the following steps in the prescribed order might
1. Read the safety information beginning on page v and "Installation guidelines"
on page 7.
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords
and all external cables, if necessary; then, open the cover.
3. Remove the memory-board assembly from the server.
Attention:
When you handle static-sensitive devices, take precautions to
avoid damage from static electricity. For details about handling these devices,
see "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page 8.
a. Pull up on the levers to detach the memory-board assembly.
b. Carefully remove the memory-board assembly from the server and set it
aside.
4. Remove the shipping thumbscrews from the right side of the server.
