Please read this User Instruction in conjunction with the 3M™ Versaflo™ M-Series and 3M™ Versaflo™ Over-Visor User Instructions as required.
^ Particular attention should be given to warning statements where indicated.
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The 3M™ Versaflo™ Radiant Heat Cover is designed to be used in conjunction with the 3M™ Versaflo™ M-Series Headtops to provide additional
protection against heat and flame.
This product meets the requirements of EN ISO 11612:2015 (Protective Clothing – Clothing to protect against heat and flame).
Note: Use of certain accessories to provide protection, in addition to the respiratory protection afforded by the headtop, may mean the mass requirements
(Clause 6.16) of EN12941 are exceeded. Please contact 3M for further information.
^ WARNINGS AND LIMITATIONS
• Proper selection, training, use and appropriate maintenance are essential in order for the product to help protect the wearer from certain
physical hazards.
• Failure to follow all instructions on the use of these personal protection products and/or failure to properly wear the complete product
during all periods of exposure may adversely affect the wearer's health, lead to severe or life threatening illness or permanent disability.
• For suitability and proper use follow local regulations, refer to all information supplied or contact a safety professional or 3M on 0870 60 800
60 (UK) or 1800 320 500 (Ireland).
• See all instructions for use and save for continuing reference.
• Always be sure that the complete product is:
- Suitable for the application;
- Fitted correctly;
- Worn during all periods of exposure;
- Replaced when necessary.
• Check apparatus is complete, undamaged and correctly assembled. Any damaged or defective parts must be replaced with original 3M spare parts
before use.
• In the event of a molten metal, chemical or flammable liquid splash:
- The user must leave the work place immediately and remove the product carefully avoiding contact with the hazardous material.
- The product should then be inspected and cleaned or removed from service.
• The Radiant Heat Cover is designed to provide additional protection against heat and flame to the helmet, head, neck and shoulders.
• The radiant heat cover may not eliminate all risks of burns if worn directly next to the skin.
• The cover should be used as part of a complete range of protective garments that are selected in accordance with the employers risk assessment. The
cover is designed for use in combination with the 3M™ Versaflo™ M-Series Over-visor.
• Materials which may come into contact with the wearer's skin are not known to cause allergic reactions to the majority of individuals.
APPROVALS
These products meet the requirements of the European Community Directive 89/686/EEC (Personal Protective Equipment Directive) and are thus CE
marked. Certification under Article 10, EC Type-Examination and Article 11, EC Quality Control, has been issued by BTTG Testing & Certification Ltd., Unit
14 Wheel Forge Way, Trafford Park, Manchester, M17 1EH, UK (Notified Body number 0338).
MARKING
The radiant heat cover is marked in accordance with EN ISO 11612:2015.

PREPARATION FOR USE

^ Inspect the product carefully before each use. Replace any parts that show signs of damage such as wear, abrasions, tearing or loss of aluminium
coating. Do not attempt to repair the product if damaged.
^ In order to ensure that the product provides the expected level of protection it is essential that it is assembled correctly and in accordance with the
instructions provided.
Assembly
1. Remove the face seal from the helmet (see M-Series instructions).
2. With the visor in the up position, pull down on metal spring and pull out to remove (See Figure 1).
3. Remove the visor frame (See Figure 2).
4 Remove post with red "3M" from visor frame by placing the frame on the edge of a table, resting on the post, and press down forcefully on the visor
frame with heel of hand (See Figure 3).
5 Remove the visor gasket from the upper edge of the visor (See Figure 4).
6. Pass the attachment of the over-visor Carrier (M-961) through the holes provided in the fabric cover. Ensure that the square part is fully exposed on
the opposite side of the fabric (See Figure 5).
7. Attach the over-visor carrier (M-961) to the frame ensuring that the carrier locks into place (See Figure 6).
8. Raise the over-visor carrier to the upright position and insert the visor gasket into the visor (See Figure 7).
9. Insert the helmet into the fabric cover to attach the visor back on to the helmet. Ensure that the breathing tube connector is exposed in the hole
provided and that the fabric is not trapped between the visor and the helmet (See figure 8).
10. Line up the visor frame over the attachment slots and slide the metal spring into place (Fig 9). Note: The visor frame should be in the fully open or
closed position before the spring is installed.
11. Attach the self-adhesive hook and loop fastener to the helmet as shown (See Figure 10).
12. Attach the over-visor to the over-visor Carrier and lock into place (See Figure 11). Ensure the visor selected is correct for the application and fitted
the right way round.
