20. Make sure that the adapter plate (2)
with the correct labeling (ST for
BFOC plug ) is fitted to the cleave
tool (C).
Note: How to change adapter plates is
described in the appendix.
24. Check the assembled plug with the
microscope (D).
25. If the plug is dirty, clean it with the
supplied lint-free cloths. If it is badly
contaminated, dampen the cloth
with isopropanol.
26. Place the dust protection cap (e) on
the plug ferrule.

21. Insert the plug into the cleave tool
(C) as far as the limit stop and hold
the plug in position. The fiber
extends out of the cleave tool (C).
Note: The plug surface is okay. Slight
irregularities at the edge are of no
significance.
2.4 Optical networks
22. Press the trigger (1) slowly until you
hear a click.
23. Dispose of the fiber remnants in the
supplied container (E).
27. If the result of cleaving is
unsatisfactory (bad case: see
photo), repeat the fitting of the plug.
28. Follow the same steps with the
other cores.
Note:The stripe pattern on the left of
the right-hand picture suggests
damaged cladding. The speckled
pattern in the middle of the left picture
indicates an unevenly broken core.
