Safe Stop 1 (SS1)
Testing of the SS1 - Safe Stop 1 (SS1) verifies the following points for an
axis/drive:
● The hardware is functioning properly
● Correct SS1 grouping (if available)
● Correct parameterization of the SS1 function
And in addition, the following points wherever Safe Brake Control (SBC)
is configured for the axis/drive:
● The brake is connected properly
● The hardware is functioning properly
● The SBC is parameterized correctly
● Forced checking procedure for the brake control
Safe Stop 2 (SS2)
This test checks whether
● triggering of the Safe Stop 2 (SS2) is detected,
● the associated axis/drive is braked,
● monitoring becomes active for Safe Operating Stop (SOS) for this axis/
drive when the parameterized transition time elapses.
Safe Operating Stop (SOS)
This test checks whether, following overrunning of the standstill tolerance
for the Safe Operating Stop (SOS),
● the drive is shut down,
● the corresponding stop reactions and alarms are triggered for both
monitoring channels,
● the reaction times and over-travel comply with the requirements.
Safely-Limited Speed (SLS)
This test checks whether an overshoot of the Safely Limited Speed (SLS)
is detected.
If a configured SLS limit value is exceeded, the configured stop reactions
and alarms should be triggered for both monitoring channels. The reaction
times and over-travel should comply with the requirements.
Safe Speed Monitor (SSM)
Testing of the Safe Speed Monitor (SSM) verifies whether for an axis/drive,
● an overshoot of the limit value is detected for Safe Speed Monitor,
● the corresponding alarm signal is issued.
Safely Limited Position (SLP)
This test checks whether
● an overshoot of the upper or lower limit values of the Safely Limited
Position (SLP) is detected,
● the monitoring limit values for SLP comply with the desired machine
positions,
● the configured stop reactions and alarms of both monitoring channels
are initiated upon overshooting or undershooting of an SLP limit value.
