Description
Power window system allows front and rear side door windows to be operated electrically. Each window is
raised or lowered using a bi-directional electric motor attached by continuous cable to window regulator.
Window motors are controlled by switches mounted on front and rear side doors. Driver´s door contains main
power window switch assembly that controls each of other three doors.
Circuit operation
With the ignition switch turned to "ON" or "START", battery voltage is applied from the ignition switch to the one
sied of the power window relay coil through L wire (the other side of the relay coil is grounded), allowing the
relay to be energized. When energized, battery voltage is applied to the power window main switch, front RH
power window switch, rear LH and RH power window switch through power window relay and the "P/W RH
(20A)" or "P/W LH (20A)" fuse.
The power window main switch is grounded through the terminal I(B) of main switch connector K-01. On the
other hand, other switch and motors are grounded through power window main switch according to each switch
operation. All the power windows are operated directly from the power window main switch. The front main
switch or the front RH power window switch. The reversible, permanent magnet motors drive the power
windows. Each motor is controlled with an "UP" and a "DOWN" switch, which are normally closed to ground.
On the front LH power window, when the front LH switch of window main switch assembly is moved to the "UP"
position, the "UP" switch will provided battery voltage to front LH window motor through R/B wire, "UP" switch,
and R wire. The front LH window motor will receive ground through the R/G wire, "DOWN" switch will connect
the R/G wire to battery voltage.Ground will be provided to the R wire through the "UP" switch of the power
window main switch. The polarity across the motor will be reversed, causing the front LH motor to rotate in the
opposite direction and lower the front LH window.
On the front RH power window, when the front RH switch of window main switch assembly is moved to the
"UP" position, the "UP" switch will provided battery voltage to the front RH window motor through R/W wire,
"UP" switch, front RH power window switch, and L wire. The front RH window motor will receive ground through
the R wire, the front RH power window switch, P wire, "DOWN" switch of the front RH switch B wire. The switch
will drive the front RH window up.
To lower the front RH window, the "DOWN" switch will connect the R wire to battery voltage. Ground will be
provided to the L wire through the front RH power window switch, the "UP" switch of the power window main
switch. The polarity across the motor will be reversed, causing the front RH motor to rotate in the opposite
direction and lower the front RH window.
When the front RH window switch (passenger side) is moved to the "UP" position independently, the "UP"
switch will provided battery voltage to the front RH window motor through L wire. The front RH window motor
will receive ground through the R wire and "DOWN" switch and drive the front RH window up.
To lower the front RH window, the "DOWN" switch will connect the R wire through "DOWN" switch to battery
voltage. Ground will be provided to the L wire through the "UP" switch. The motor rotates in the opposite
direction and lowers the front RH window.
If the lock switch of the power window main switch is locked (opened), the other window switches (passenger
side) can not operated the other windows.
The rear LH (or RH) window operates as the same method with power window main switch and rear LH (or
RH) power window switch independently.
