Dolby B and C noise reduction
To replay cassettes recorded using
the Dolby B or C noise reduction sys­
tems, press the Dolby NR b u t t o n ^ ^
repeatedly until the desired type of
Dolby noise reduction (Dolby B or
Dolby C) is attained. This reduces
tape hiss. The indicator lamps in the
button indicate the type of Dolby
noise reduction selected. To replay
cassettes not recorded in Dolby,
press the bu tto n ffiS flre p e a te d ly until
the indicator lamps in the b u t t o n ^ ®
go out.
Tape equalization
For optim um reproduction quality it is
necessary to select the co rre ct tape
equalization fo r the particular type of
tape being used. Press t he tape
equalization b u t t o n ^ ^ o n l y when
playing Chromium dioxide (C R 0 2) or
" metal" cassette tapes. The indicator
lamp in the button will illuminate when
C R 0 2 or metal equalization has been
selected. For all other types of tape,
do not press the tape equalization
b u tt o n B ^ .T h e indicator lamp in the
b u tto n ^ ^ r e m a in s off.
Cassette eject
To remove a cassette, press the eject
b u t t o n B I - Remove the tape after
the m otorized-loading system has
disengaged the cassette. The unit will
autom atically switch from cassette
playback to radio operation.
When the unit is turned o ff by press­
ing t h ^ O F F " side of the O n/O ff but-
t o n E I B B E io r by turning the key to
steering lock position 0 , the cassette
will autom atically eject.
Care and maintenance
To avoid deterioration of the tone
quality, periodically clean the tape
head with the special cleaning tape kit
available at your authorized
MERCEDES-BENZ dealer.
Cassette tapes should be properly
stored when not in use. It is recom ­
mended that cassettes be stored in a
cassette box designed to prevent
unwinding and the accum ulation of
dust.
If the cassette ejects during playback,
this may be caused by binding of the
tape in the cassette. To eliminate this
condition, fast forward the cassette to
the end of the track and then rewind
to the beginning of the track.
P rotect cassette tapes from direct
sunlight or other tem perature
extremes.
Radio anti-theft protection
Removal of the radio with the vehicle
anti-theft alarm armed will render the
radio inoperative indicated by a
dashed line across the display.
