Leveling the Antenna Assembly - Refer to Figures 3-3.
a.
Using a Starett #98-12 Machinist's Level or equivalent on the Datum Level Surface, loosen setscrews

with 1/8" Allen wrench, then adjust the Elevation Adjustment Screws until surface is exactly
horizontal. The Base Interface Kit includes two customized wrenches which allow for attachment to
and quick adjustment of the Elevation Nuts. Adjust both Elevation Nuts at the same time so that each
carries about the same amount of load and requires the same amount of force to turn the wrench. This
requires two technicians.
b.
With the Datum Level Surface exactly horizontal, adjust the Tilt Indicator Plate and Tilt Pointer
(attached at Section 3.3.5-p and 3.3.5-q) until the reading on the Tilt Indicator Plate matches the
angle reading inscribed on the >Peak of Beam Alignment= plate which is attached to the reflector
base. Angles should be read from the top surface of the Pointer. After the plate has been set, apply
Loctite 243 (item 33 in Table 3-5) to each screw one at a time. Tighten all hardware fully.
c.
The antenna can now be adjusted to the correct beam elevation angle for the particular site. Using the
adjustment wrenches, adjust the Elevation Screws on the side of the antenna with the Tilt Indicator
Plate. When the desired angle has been set, adjust the nut on the opposite side and check that the
antenna is level across the screws. Tighten hardware fully.
d.
The wrenches may be stowed to the mounting holes on the inside of the reflector base as shown.
