Below are some g ood habits t o follow each t _me y ousitdown to sew;
1. Inspect theneedle. It should bestraight, properly s etand sharp onthepoint._tshould bethecorrect size forthefabric andthread being u sed. Donotbe
afraid to change yourneedle frequently. Many o f thenew fabrics m ade o f synthetic blends tendtodulltheneedles more easily t hanfabrics m ade o fnatural
fibers.
2. Before p lacing t hematerial onthemachine, see thattheends o fthethreads have been d rawn about 4 inches totherear o fthemachine. Hold onto threads
during thesewing ofthefirst3 or4 stitches of theseam,
3. Test t hemachine stitchonascrap offabric youplan touse. The fabric should bedouble thickness, Adjust t hemachine forthelength o fstitchand tension
suitable t oyourfabric.
4. Fabric s hould beplaced u nder t hepresser footwiththebulkof thematerial to theleftoftheneedle andtherightedge o fthematerial placed o nthe5/8"
seam marking o ntheneedle plate when making a simple s eam.
5. Run themachine ataslow even speed. The more pressure youputonthefootcontrol, t hefaster t hemachine willsew.
6. Fasten each seam byback tacMng a tthebeginning and endoftheseam.
7. Always f imsh sewing each seam withtheneedle atitshighest point,
8. Guide thefabric gently w ithyourhand infrontoftheneedle. Never pullorholdthefabric insuch awaythatthenormal feeding i saltered.
9. When t urning thehand wheel manually, always turnit toward you,
