If you cannot shift automatic
transmission shift lever
If you cannot shift the shift lever out
of "P" position to other positions even
though the brake pedal is depressed,
use the shift lock override button as
follows:
1. Turn the engine switch
"LOCK" position. Make sure the
parking brake is applied.
2. Push the shift lock override button.
You can shift out of the "P" position
only while pushing the button.
3. Shift into the "N" position.
4. Start the engine. For your safety,
keep the brake pedal depressed.
Be sure to have the system checked by
your Toyota dealer as soon as possible.

emergency door
to the

From inside

From outside
OPENING THE DOOR FOR EMERGENCY
ESCAPE
From inside—Pull open the cover, un-
lock the lock knob (pull the knob left-
ward.), and pull the handle toward you.
From outside—Pull up the emergency
door handle. If it is locked, insert the
key into the keyhole and turn the key
clockwise.
