With Manual Transmission:
If your car gets stuck in sand, mud, or snow, you may free it by
alternating between reverse and second to rock the car back and
forth.
Do not spin the wheels; the tires will just dig deeper, making it
more difficult to free the car.
With Automatic Transmission:
If the car gets stuck, either drive out using mats or gravel to in
crease traction, or get assistance from another vehicle (see rope
attachment point on the preceding page).
CAUTION: DO NOT try to free a car with automatic transmission
from snow, etc., by rocking the car alternately between forward
and reverse gears. Severe transmission damage may result from
shifting into gear with the wheels moving.
