While operating in DMO the propagation travels directly from
the transmitting terminal antenna to the receiving terminal
antenna, with no assistance from any base station or tower.
Therefore, the range is critically dependent on the position of
the user and the antenna. To achieve best results, hold the
terminal in the hand as high as comfortably possible, and be
sure not to obstruct the antenna in any way. Be sure that the
antenna is clear from the body, cables, or other obstructions. As
there is no tower-mounted base station to assist, and the two
users are usually standing at ground level, the range is usually
shorter than that can be achieved towards a tower or hilltop.
Any obstructions (hills, buildings, etc.) between the users will
further decrease the range. Conversely, raising the terminal
higher or moving to a higher location may improve the range.
A MTM800 Enhanced in DMO can communicate with the
trunked system (and vice-versa) through a gateway device.
To use that feature, please enable the gateway option in your
MTM800 Enhanced (see "Gateway/Repeater Selection" on
page 47).
In DMO it is only possible to place Group Calls, Emergency
Group Calls and Private Half-duplex Calls.
