Permanent Link Connections

Permanent link test connections are similar to basic link connections, except that
the effects of the test equipment's patch cables are excluded from the test results.
When compared to the basic link and channel, this test configuration provides the
most accurate characterization of the permanently installed section of the cabling.
The permanent link configuration also helps eliminate false FAIL results caused
by test equipment patch cables. Figure 7-6 illustrates permanent link test
connections.
