SPECIAL SEWING TECHNIQUES

The stitch menu H- Specialty Stitches, includes special
sewing technique stitches like candlewicking, join and
fold, twin gimping, quilting, appliqué, three hole yarn and
edge stitches. These techniques may require some special
presser feet and accessories. This is indicated by the
optional presser foot icon.
Note: Use the Quick Help to find detailed information for each stitch.
Appliqué stitches
Use: fabric, stabilizer and fabric for appliqué cut in small
pieces (1.5"x1.5", 3.5cm x 3.5cm). Choose a fabric that
doesn't fray too much.
1.
Choose stitch H:38. Snap on the recommended presser
foot.
2.
Place your fabric under the presser foot and activate
Needle Stop up/down to select the needle down
position.
3.
Step on the foot control and begin to stitch while you
gently guide the fabric. The machine will start to sew
and then stop automatically and the presser foot will
raise to pivot position.
4.
Insert a small piece of appliqué fabric under the
presser foot, directly behind the needle.
5.
Continue sewing until the machine automatically stops
again.
6.
Repeat step 3-5 until the desired stitch length is
reached.
7.
Trim all excess appliqué fabric.
Tip: You can make your stitches more secure by adding a piece of
paper backed fusible web cut in the same size as your appliqué fabric
(the paper part should of course be removed first). After your stitch
is stitched you cut away the excess together with the excess appliqué
fabric. After everything is cut away, you can press your seam in place.
