Setting Up on Windows with a USB Connection

Use a USB-2.0 interface cable not longer than 5 m

(2 m or less is recommended).
• While the printer performs printing, do not unplug

or plug its USB cable.
• Do not plug the printer's USB cable shortly after
unplugging it. Wait five seconds or more between
unplugging and plugging the USB cable.
• When connecting with other USB compatible
devices, the printer cannot be guaranteed to run
normally.
• A USB hub to use to connect must be connected
directly to your computer.
• Information in this document may not be up-to-
date due to printer driver version update.
• Administrator privileges are required for setting up.
Be sure that the printer is not turned on and
the printer's USB cable is unplugged from your
computer.

Turn on the computer.
Insert Software DVD-ROM into the computer.
Click [setup.exe] when [Autorun] is
displayed.
Click [OK] when the [User Account Control]
dialog box appears. Click [Continue] in
Windows Vista.
Select the model and click [Next].
Read the license agreement and click
[I Agree].

Select [Easy Installation (Local)] under
[Driver Installation].
[Easy Installation (Local)] installs all drivers for
Memo
operating system you use. To choose manually a
driver to install, select [Custom Installation(Printer)]
and follow the instructions on your screen.
Click [Next]. Installation starts.
Click [Install this driver software] when the
[Windows Security] dialog box appears.
In Windows XP/Windows Server 2003, click
[Continue] when [Install of hardware] dialog
box appears.
