Note:
The type of Battery Pack is printed on the label. Remove the Battery Pack and view the
label to determine the type of Battery Pack you have been issued. Certain 3641/3645
operations/features/configuration can impact overall battery performance. For example,
the Avaya 3645 IP Wireless Handset Push-to-talk (PTT) mode and operation requires
additional battery resources. If PTT functionality is desired, it is recommended that your
Avaya 3645 IP Wireless Handset be equipped with an Ultra-Extended Battery Pack for
optimal performance. Actual power reduction is dependent on the handset volume and
loudness of speaker's voice. PTT works using multicast broadcasting, which must be
monitored in standby consuming power at a greater rate and while talk-time is not
reduced, stand-by time can be significantly reduced.
Caution!
Use only Standard, Extended or Ultra-Extended Battery Pack models in the Avaya
3641/3645 IP Wireless Handsets.

Indications of low battery

The handset will need to have its Battery Pack recharged periodically. The Battery Pack
icon on the handset display's status row indicates the amount of charge remaining.
Additionally the handset will sound warning tones and display the
when there are fewer than two minutes of talk time remaining.
A melody will play when the handset is powered on for the first time after being fully
charged, unless this feature has been disabled. Each Battery Pack type has a different
melody. Contact your system administrator if you have questions about the type of
Battery Pack you have been issued.
When the handset is in Standby mode, the message
indicate a critically low Battery Pack charge. The handset will not work until the Battery
Pack is charged.
Note:
Take care not to short the battery contacts on the Battery Pack with metal objects such
as coins, keys or paper clips. Shorting the contacts can cause permanent damage.

Battery Pack removal and replacement

To remove, press down on the latch on the Battery Pack on the back of the handset. The
Battery Pack releases outward.
To replace, slide the lip of the Battery Pack into the bottom of the cavity. Push the top of
the Battery Pack until it snaps into place. You should not have to force it against the
handset.
