The removal
tools
consist
of the following:
1 - Collar
Assembly,'
part
no.
387393
1 - Seat,
part no.. 387424
(Customer
to furnish
bearing
puller)
The
collar
assembly
(6) protects
the bearing
by allowing
the puller
to exert
pulling
force
on the inner
race only.
The
seat (7) protects
the 3/4"-10
threads
in the ends of the rotor
shaft
against
possible
damage by the bearing
puller
screw.
To remove
a bearing,
proceed
as follows:
(1)
Disassemble
the collar
(6) and place
the two halves
over
and behind
the bearing.
Make
certain
it is installed
so the protruding
"land"
at the inner
diameter
will
contact
the
inner
race
of the bearing,
install
two clamping
screws
and tighten
to clamp
the collar
on the bearing.
Install
seat
(7)
in the end of the rotor
shaft.
(2)
Pull
th e b earing
off the rotor
shaft
with
a suitable
bearing
puller,
(3)
Remove
bearing
tools.

Cleaning
(1)
Steam
cleaning
of motor-generator
components
is no longer
recommended
because
steam
can be damaging
to insulation.
Use
a good,
SAFE,
commercial
cleaner
on all
parts except
bearings.
DRY
ALL
PARTS
THOROUGHLY
AFTER
CLEANING.
WARN
IN G :
DO
NOT
USE
A FLAMMABLE
SOLVENT.
(2)
Wipe
bearings
clean
with
a dr:/ cloth.
Sealed
bearings
should
NOT
be washed.
A little
tarnish,
stain,
and corrosion
on the outside
surfaces
are not detrimental
to the operation
of the bearing
and need not be removed.

Inspect
bearings
while
they
ore mounted
on the
rotor
shaft.
