1.
'Electrical
Equipment,
Overhaul
of electrical
subassemblies
such
as the control
box,
pushbutton
switch
panel,
transformer
panel,
etc;,
just
for the sake
of overhaul,
is not necessary
or
pructical.
It
is felt
that defective
parts
replucement
and repair
can be accomplished
at less
cost and
with
as good results
as complete
overhaul.
However,
overhaul
information
for the
motor-generator
is presented
in this
section
because
of special
procedures
for disassembly,
cleaning,
bearing
installation,
etc.

Motor-Generator
Overhaul
A.
Removal
(1)
Remove
the canopy
as required.
See Section
4-1,
para.
2,
A,
(1) through
(16).
It is not necessary
to remove
the front
and rear
panels.

switch
panel,

Remove
in
accordance
with
Section

motor-generator

in accordance

instructions

Disassembly
(See
Figure
1)
(1)
Place
the motor-generator
in a clear
area directly
under
and parallel
to a chain
or cable
hoist
track,
where
two hoists
are available,
if possible.
If hoists
are
not available,
place
the unit
in an area
with
sufficient
clear
space
for opera-
tion
of two fork-lift
trucks
for
lifting
the unit
housings
and rotor.
NOTE:
The
following
text
will
refer
to hoists
for
lifting.
If they
are not
available,
substitute
"fork-lift
truck"
for
"hoist".
(2)
Install
an eyebolt
(3/4"-10
thd)
in each of the motor-generator
stator
housings
(7 and 16).
Attach
one hoist
to the eyebolt
in the generator
stator
housing.
NOTE:
Be sure
the other
hoist
is in position
to attach
to the center
of the
rotor
assembly
when
the motor
and generator
housings
are separated.
