3.16.2 To prevent other users
from joining your conversation
(Call privacy feature)
You can turn the feature ON during a call.
Handset:
Press the left soft key ({PRIVACY}) during a
phone call.
L "PRIVACY" will be displayed on the first line.
L To turn the feature OFF, press the left soft key
({PRIVACY}) again.
Base unit:
Press {PRIVACY} during a phone call.
L The PRIVACY indicator turns ON.
L To turn the feature OFF, press {PRIVACY}
again.
Note:
L This feature will return to OFF after you hang
up the call.

3.17 Room monitor feature

This feature allows you to listen in on a room
where a handset or base unit is located. The
monitored extension will not ring, allowing you to
easily monitor, for example, a baby's room from
different areas of the house. If you want to
prevent your unit from being monitored by other
extensions, leave this feature OFF (default
setting). An extension currently in use cannot be
monitored.
L Keep the front cover page open for button
locations.
3.17.1 Turning ON the room
monitor feature (Handset)
This allows the handset to be monitored.
Make sure the handset is not being used.

Press {CONF/FUNCTION}.

Scroll to "Initial setting" by pressing
{v} or {e}, then press {>}.

Scroll to "Room monitor" by pressing {v}
or {e}, then press {>}.

Press {v} or {e} to select "On".

Press the right soft key ({SAVE}).

Press {OFF}.
3.17.2 Turning ON the room
monitor feature (Base unit)
This allows the base unit to be monitored.

Press {MENU}.

Press {#}, then {7}{4}.

Press {A} or {B} repeatedly to select "ON".

L You can turn ON the base unit room monitor
feature using the handset (page 76).
3.17.3 Monitoring a room
Using the handset

Press {INTERCOM/TRANSFER}.

Press the right soft key ({MONITOR}).

To call the base unit, press {0}.
To call another handset, enter its extension
number using a dialing button ({1} to {8}).
L Your handset will start to monitor the
room through the destination unit.
L "Room monitor", then the duration time
will be displayed on the handset.
L To monitor from the speaker, press {SP-
PHONE}. To switch back to the receiver,
press {TALK}.
L The monitored unit will display "ROOM
MONITOR".

To end monitoring, press {OFF}.
L The base unit user can stop being
monitored by pressing
{LOCATOR/INTERCOM} or {DIGITAL
SP-PHONE}. The monitored handset
user can stop being monitored by
pressing {OFF}.
Using the base unit

Press {LOCATOR/INTERCOM}, then press
{MUTE}.

To call the handset, enter its extension
number using a dialing button ({1} to {8}).
L The base unit will start to monitor the
room through the handset.
L "ROOM MONITOR" will be displayed on the
base unit.
L The monitored unit will display "Room
monitor" then the duration time.

To end monitoring, press
{LOCATOR/INTERCOM} or {DIGITAL SP-
PHONE}.
L The monitored handset user can stop
being monitored by pressing {OFF}.
