2 Traffic Policing and Traffic Shaping Configuration

2.2.1 Establishing the Configuration Task

Applicable Environment
If the service traffic sent by users is not limited, a large amount of increasing burst service data
makes a network more congested. To make full use of network resources and provide better
services for more users, you must limit user service traffic.
QoS CAR is a traffic control action used to limit traffic and resources by monitoring the
specification of the traffic.
QoS CAR can be applied on an interface, such as an Ethernet interface, a GE interface, or an
Eth-Trunk, at the inbound direction. When QoS CAR is applied on an interface, it takes effect
for all the incoming service traffic. QoS CAR can be also applied in a VLAN. When QoS CAR
is applied to a VLAN, it takes effect on all the inbound broadcast, multicast, or unknown unicast
service traffic in the VLAN.

Context

Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
qos car car-name cir cir-value [ cbs cbs-value [ pbs pbs-value ] | pir pir-value
[ cbs cbs-value pbs pbs-value ] ]
A QoS CAR template is created.
